Reactions to Lark Special Milds in the Square-shaped Pack

Interest in the Product

Of the 50 respondents in this phase of the project, 14 showed a relatively high degree of interest in Lark Special Milds, while 11 exhibited little or no interest. The remainder showed a slight degree of interest, mainly in the newness of the product, or because of curiosity about a new product. However, this «new» imagery did not appear to be especially strong, mainly because of the perceived resemblance to Lark Milds.
Those showing interest in the product were divided between Lark smokers (6), competitive international brand smokers (4) and domestic brand smokers (4), as shown below:

Lark and competitive international brand smokers who were interested in the product either cited lightness or a liking for the package as the reason for their interest. (Lark).
«The colors and the design of the package are good».
«It looks stylish».
«The (vertical) stripes make it look neat and streamlined».
«(Lark) Super Lights look like something for old men, but this is youthful».
«Seems like Lark Milds have been made even better».

«(The pack) is cool looking».
«The colors and (vertical) stripes are stylish».
«Would go with jeans».
Reasons for interest among domestic brand smokers were as follows:
«Lark has an image of being strong, but this (Special Milds) seems light».
«It's stylish and cool-looking».
«It wouldn't have that characteristic harshness of foreign cigarettes».
