A very few respondents arrayed the brands according to premium imagery, either according to the amount of red or gold on the pack (the more red, the more high class; the more gold, the more high class). In either case, Lark Special Milds tended to be placed near Lark Milds.
Respondents were also asked to indicate which brands they felt would be competing or resembled Lark Special Milds. The results were as follows:

Reasons:
- Light (Cabin Mild, Cabin Super Milds)/For the common person

- A subdued, poised mood
- Can not think of any brands (LM, LO, CY, CM, CO)
A small minority mentioned either Philip Morris, Barclay or Stingray as competitors because of their lightness, or Salem Lights because of female smoker imagery.
